Clear Channel Wins Silver Bell Award

Outdoor advertising company Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings Inc. (CCO) recently received the Silver Bell Award from Ad Council, a non-profit organization for public service advertising in the U.S., for its holistic contribution toward disseminating public messages.

The Chicago office of Clear Channel received the award for its univocal commitment for pro-bono (for the public good) public service advertising campaigns on diverse platforms for various organizations in 2012. These included transit and roadside digital billboards, bulletins, posters and metro platform/concourse dioramas. The advertising campaigns were aimed to generate awareness for autism and stroke, increase financial literacy, promote safe texting and driving, and for more community engagement.

In addition to creating social awareness for issues relating to public safety and welfare programs, the advertising campaigns created a buzz around the media and helped to propagate Ad Council’s messages. The award is recognition of such services and is likely to be a morale-boosting encouragement for the company.

Clear Channel is one of the largest outdoor advertising companies in the world, with 750,000 displays spread across 40 countries in Asia, Australia, Europe and Latin America. The company covers 48 of the 50 largest markets in the U.S. The product portfolio of the company also includes a growing digital platform that offers over 1000 digital billboards across 37 U.S. markets.

Currently, Clear Channel has a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). Other leading players in the advertising industry such as MDC Partners Inc. (MDCA), Publicis Groupe SA (PUBGY) and WPP plc (WPPGY) are worth considering. Each of the above-mentioned stock carries a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy).
