Clenera and Swinerton Renewable Energy Bring Solar Energy to Idaho Communities

GRAND VIEW, ID--(Marketwired - November 10, 2016) - Clenera, LLC (Clēnera) and Swinerton Renewable Energy (SRE) held a ribbon cutting ceremony at Grand View PV Solar Two (Grand View) on October 20, 2016. Construction on the 108 MWdc solar facility in Elmore County, Idaho, was completed on September 9, 2016. Grand View is the fifth project totaling 100 MW or larger built by Swinerton and is the eighth utility-scale project Swinerton has built for Clēnera.

Consisting of 81 MWdc and 27 MWdc systems built on 673 total acres, Grand View is Idaho's largest solar project and will be among the first utility-scale projects to be brought online in the state's history when it begins commercial operation in late November. The plant is expected to produce enough energy to power 17,712 homes annually.

Swinerton Renewable Energy provided Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) services at Grand View. SRE worked closely with colleagues at Blymyer Engineers to develop the design, which features BYD modules, Power Electronics inverters, and NEXTracker single-axis trackers. Trusted SRE partner, Construction Innovations, manufactured all balance of system (BOS) components for the 108 MW project. Approximately 300 craft employees were hired locally during construction.

"Through our continuing partnership with Clēnera, we are pleased to help set the precedent for utility-scale projects in Idaho's emerging solar market. Grand View models the impactful role solar can play in local economies, surrounding communities, and our environment," said George Hershman, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Swinerton Renewable Energy. "Congratulations to Clēnera and to the SRE team at Grand View on another successful project."

Ranked among the top five solar developers and EPCs, respectively, Clēnera and Swinerton Renewable Energy are recognized not only as leaders in the solar industry, but also in their commitment to the communities served by their projects. On November 9, the two companies completed construction on a 100 KW solar energy system at the Idaho Youth Ranch in Treasure Valley. This project joined teams from Clēnera, SRE, and NEXTracker with the community's youth to provide education on the growing importance of renewable energy. Once online, the installation will generate clean, free energy to power the camp for years to come.
