If you missed Black Friday altogether or simply have not had enough shopping in your life, allow me to introduce Amazon’s Cyber Monday sale. The deals are plentiful, so while it is exciting to look out over a vast sea of sales it can also feel a bit overwhelming. To cut through the noise (or some other more appropriate maritime metaphor) and make this experience as pleasurable as possible for you, our favorite reader/shopper, we’ve put together our top picks from the sale in case you need just a little guidance.
Who are you? Kristen Flanagan, Deputy Digital Director What are you buying and why are you excited to buy it? This Samsonite set. I’ve been wanting to upgrade my luggage but not spend a gazillion dollars. I’ve heard good things about this carry-on, and the price is right, so I’m very excited about this find. What did you eat too much of at Thanksgiving?: Honestly, everything.
Who are you? Keith Pollock, Executive Director, Digital What are you buying and why are you excited to buy it? You can never have too many sets of sheets, especially around the holidays when people insist on visiting. Casper makes a particularly good set, so I’ll be indulging in it today. What did you eat too much of at Thanksgiving?: Nothing, I’m a paragon of moderation. (Pie.)
Who are you?: Zoë Sessums, Associate Editor, Clever What are you buying and why are you excited to buy it? This Levoit Air Purifier is one of those boring-but-hopefully-life-changing sorts of products on my wish list. As soon as autumn strikes and it gets too cold to keep my windows open, my sinuses seriously suffer. I’m ready for easy breathing. Plus I like how this thing won’t take up a huge amount of apartment real estate. What did you eat too much of at Thanksgiving?: Pumpkin pie. I’m the person that quickly volunteers to do the dishes, but that’s just because I’m “evening out” the edges of the pie until I’ve eaten at least another slice or two.
Who are you? Nora Taylor, Editor, Clever What are you buying and why are you excited to buy it? I’m in my 30s, so naturally, I am excited about a vacuum. Specifically, this bagless Bissell one. I’m getting a cat in the new year, so I’ll be vacuuming more frequently and voraciously, and I’m into how powerful this one is. Plus, it’s on the smaller/less cumbersome side, so perfect for my Brooklyn apartment. What did you eat too much of at Thanksgiving? Cheese. I had it in so many forms, it was gross and also impressive.
Who are you? Gabriela Ulloa, Assistant to the Editor in Chief What are you buying and why are you excited to buy it? The Mophie Wireless Charge Pad. This is the wireless companion I’ve been searching for. While I’ve had my eye on this for a while, I couldn’t justify paying full price for something that would enhance my laziness. But I have decided (right now, in this very moment) that 2020 will be the year of making my life easier, so here we are, buying a charge pad. What did you eat too much of at Thanksgiving? A brief bio: I’m Cuban, which means that yuca, cousin to the familiar—albeit boring—potato, is included in pretty much every meal. It’s essentially our token “vegetable” (don’t @ us). Every year on Thanksgiving, I leave the table and head to the couch, uncomfortably full (but never remorseful) due to an overconsumption of yuca.
Who are you? Sydney Wasserman, Digital Special Projects What are you buying and why are you excited to buy it? When it’s stuffed with winter coats, my closet becomes impossible to navigate. I’m hoping House Day’s Magic Hangers will space out my clothes so I can see what I actually have in there. Bonus that you can use the chrome hook device vertically to stack skirts and shirts in a neat row. I feel tidier just thinking about it. What did you eat too much of at Thanksgiving?: My mom’s persimmon cookies
