CMS Energy: 4Q Earnings Snapshot

JACKSON, Mich. (AP) _ CMS Energy Corp. (CMS) on Thursday reported fourth-quarter net income of $108 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.

On a per-share basis, the Jackson, Michigan-based company said it had net income of 38 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 40 cents per share.

The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 41 cents per share.

The energy company posted revenue of $1.83 billion in the period.

For the year, the company reported profit of $657 million, or $2.32 per share. Revenue was reported as $6.87 billion.

CMS Energy expects full-year earnings in the range of $2.47 to $2.51 per share.

CMS Energy shares have increased roughly 4 percent since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has risen roughly 7 percent. The stock has climbed 16 percent in the last 12 months.
