MONTREAL (AP) _ Canadian National Railway Co. (CNI) on Tuesday reported third-quarter earnings of $867.7 million.
On a per-share basis, the Montreal-based company said it had profit of $1.18. Earnings, adjusted for pretax gains, came to $1.15 per share.
The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 10 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.12 per share.
The railroad posted revenue of $2.82 billion in the period, also topping Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $2.72 billion.
CN expects full-year earnings in the range of $4.06 to $4.17 per share.
CN shares have increased slightly since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $82.60, a rise of 1 percent in the last 12 months.
