MONTREAL (AP) _ Canadian National Railway Co. (CNI) on Tuesday reported third-quarter net income of $905.2 million.
The Montreal-based company said it had net income of $1.26 per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of nine analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.22 per share.
The railroad posted revenue of $2.9 billion in the period, which missed Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $2.94 billion.
CN shares have climbed 21% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $89.83, a climb of nearly 6% in the last 12 months.
