Cobra Electronics Named as Finalist in 2013 CTIA E-Tech Awards

Cobra Recognized for Innovation in Mobile Apps - Automotive, LBS, Navigation and Safe Driving

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - Apr 30, 2013) - Cobra Electronics Corporation (NASDAQ: COBR), the leading designer and marketer of award-winning mobile and consumer electronics, today announced its Cobra iRadar® ATOM was named as a finalist in the Mobile Apps category for Automotive, LBS, Navigation and Safe Driving of CTIA's annual Emerging Technology (E-Tech) Awards competition. The CTIA E-Tech Awards honor the industry's most innovative new wireless products and services in mobile apps, consumer electronics, enterprise and vertical markets and network. Winners will be announced at CTIA 2013, taking place May 21-23, 2012 at the Sands Expo & Convention Center in Las Vegas.

The Cobra iRadar ATOM is the most innovative and technologically advanced radar/laser/camera detection system on the market. It employs smaller components than its predecessor, the Cobra iRadar 200, while packing in Cobra's highest performance platform, making it the smallest footprint in the industry and 35 percent smaller than the iRadar 200. It allows users to share alerts in real time when connected via Bluetooth® with the iRadar app and via cellular data services with the iRadar Community. The iRadar Community lets users report and warn other users nearby of live police, caution areas and photo enforcement areas. Its companion smartphone app displays a host of valuable information including speed, compass heading, location-based mapping, maximum speed setting and an array of warnings from the iRadar ATOM and other iRadar users nearby.

"The CTIA E-Tech Awards are a respected presence in the world of wireless products and services, so all of us at Cobra are honored to be chosen as a finalist in the emerging technology market," said Sally Washlow, president of Cobra Electronics. "The iRadar ATOM is the smallest, most powerful and most user-friendly radar detector on the market, and since we all rely so heavily on our smartphones today, pairing the unit to a user's smartphone offers a large, high-resolution and familiar display packed with important information and powerful features -- all at an affordable price."

Nearly 300 entries were judged by a panel of highly-respected industry experts, reporters and analysts. Submissions were scored on innovation, functionality, technological importance, implementation and overall "wow" factor. E-Tech winners, including Best in Show and Online Pick will be announced at the awards ceremony on Wednesday, May 22 at 2:00 p.m. PDT at CTIA's Exhibit Innovations Stage on the trade show floor within CTIA World, booth #5646.

Between now and May 20, website visitors may vote for the "Best Online Pick" at www.ctiashow.com/awards. CTIA 2013 show attendees will vote on-site via text message for entries in the E-Tech Awards display to win "Best in Show."
