Colts show support for teacher/former football player who stopped Noblesville school shooting

It has seemingly died from the headlines already, but just five days ago there was a school shooting at Noblesville West Middle School, not far from Indianapolis.

No one was fatally injured in the shooting, in large part thanks to the bravery of seventh-grade science teacher Jason Seaman; when the student gunman entered Seaman’s classroom, Seaman tackled him to the floor.

Though Seaman was shot three times in the scuffle and one student, 13-year-old Ella Whistler, was critically wounded, the teacher’s swift action almost certainly prevented more injuries or worse.

On Wednesday, the Indianapolis Colts showed support for Seaman, Whistler and the entire Noblesville community during their offseason practice, donning “#Nobstrong” t-shirts.

“We are #Nobstrong,” is written inside a heart. They also have words from Seaman, “You are the reason I teach” and the initials “E.W.,” likely for Whistler.

The shirts also have the No. 91 on them – before the 29-year-old Seaman became a teacher, he was a defensive lineman at Southern Illinois, a four-year letterwinner who wore that uniform number.

Proceeds from the sale of the shirts will go to Seaman and Whistler as they recover from their injuries.

The Colts are also holding their annual Blue Evening this Saturday night, and money from raffle tickets sold at the event will benefit Seaman and Whistler.
