Consumer Prices Rise Just 0.1% In May

May consumer prices data are out.

The consumer price index rose 0.1% in May from the previous month, versus the 0.2% advance predicted by economists, bringing the annual inflation rate to 1.4% from 1.1% in April.

Core CPI inflation (excluding food and energy) rose 0.2% in May, but the annual core inflation rate was unchanged at 1.7%, right in line with expectations.
