When you're decorating a room in your home, it can be frustrating when you can't find curtains that match the look you're going for. Or the length you're going for. Even more exasperating, though, are the price tags on curtains should you decide to customize your own. That's where Mesken comes in.

According to Business Insider, Mesken offers custom curtains and shades at prices 50 to 70 percent less than traditional brands, and will conveniently deliver them in seven to ten days. Mesken's website says, "We started Mesken with the specific goal of making high-quality custom curtains and shades as affordable as possible."

The company says it has built a "super efficient supply chain," and because it's an online brand, Mesken avoids expensive costs, such as showrooms. Additionally, Mesken doesn't have high inventory costs because the company only offers "a carefully curated selection of fabrics."

So, just how affordable are the custom curtains, really? Curtains start at $65, and the most expensive fabric starts at $195. Shades begin at $80, with the priciest starting at $120. Mesken's site makes it easy to customize your curtains and shades, beginning with the type of fabric and color.

The customization begins with deciding between sheer and solid curtains. The solid curtains are a bit more expensive than the sheer, and you can order up to five fabric swatches for free.

Once you choose your fabric, you're brought to a new page to choose color, hanging style, size, panels, and liner. For hanging style, your options are ring top, rod pocket, grommet, or pleated, and the grommet and pleated styles cost more per panel.

You're prompted to enter your curtain measurements, or you can use Mesken's measurement guide. Next, you have the option to add privacy or blackout liners to your curtains, and you can also adjust the number of panels.

According to the website, all custom curtain and shades-except for grommet curtains-will ship from Mesken's New York headquarters in 10 business days or less. Grommet curtains may take a few more days to ship. Keep in mind that since the curtains and shades are custom-made, the company isn't able to accept returns.

One of the best parts of Mesken's curtains is that you should be able to install them on your own-the company has user-friendly guides to follow. If you live in the New York City area, though, and would like professional help, Mesken says, "we will do our best to arrange for measurement or installation services."

After you customize your own curtains, you can take advantage of Mesken's referral program. When your friends buy from your personal invite link, you'll get $20 in cash. So if you convince four of your pals to upgrade their windows, you could get custom curtains for free. Score!
