OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (AP) _ Compass Minerals International Inc. (CMP) on Monday reported fourth-quarter net income of $56.1 million.
The Overland Park, Kansas-based company said it had net income of $1.63 per share.
The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.88 per share.
The minerals producer posted revenue of $500.3 million in the period, which also missed Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $523.9 million.
For the year, the company reported profit of $62.5 million, or $1.81 per share. Revenue was nearly unchanged at $1.49 billion.
Compass shares have decreased 4% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $58.51, an increase of 13% in the last 12 months.
