MOBILE, Ala. (AP) _ Computer Programs and Systems Inc. (CPSI) on Thursday reported first-quarter net income of $3.4 million.
On a per-share basis, the Mobile, Alabama-based company said it had profit of 24 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs and stock option expense, came to 62 cents per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 57 cents per share.
The healthcare information technology company posted revenue of $69.1 million in the period, which did not meet Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $70.1 million.
Computer Programs and Systems shares have climbed 20% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $30.13, climbing slightly in the last 12 months.
