Computer Programs and Systems: 3Q Earnings Snapshot

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) _ Computer Programs and Systems Inc. (CPSI) on Thursday reported third-quarter profit of $5.7 million.

On a per-share basis, the Mobile, Alabama-based company said it had net income of 42 cents. Earnings, adjusted for amortization costs and stock option expense, came to 79 cents per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of nine analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 48 cents per share.

The healthcare information technology company posted revenue of $69.3 million in the period, falling short of Street forecasts. Eight analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $70.7 million.

Computer Programs and Systems shares have fallen 16 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $25.39, a drop of 14 percent in the last 12 months.
