'He knew what he signed up for...' Trump reportedly tells soldier's pregnant widow

President Donald Trump already has been criticized for falsely claiming that former President Barack Obama never called the families of fallen soldiers.

Now he's being slammed by Democratic Rep. Frederica Wilson after he talked on the phone with the widow of a solider killed in Niger.

Trump reportedly told her that "he knew what he signed up for ... but when it happens it hurts anyway," Wilson told Local 10 News, the local ABC News affiliate in Miami. She told the same thing to NBC News, incredulous that Trump reportedly said "he knew what he signed up for" multiple times.

This came from a Democratic member of Congress, not the widow of the solider, who hasn't commented publicly on the call. U.S. Army Sgt. La David Johnson was one of four U.S. soldiers killed in an ambush in Niger by 50 ISIS fighters.

When asked for comment, the White House told Local 10 News, "The president's conversations with the families of American heroes who have made the ultimate sacrifice are private."
