WATERBURY, Conn. (AP) -- Officials with Connecticut's health insurance exchange will be explaining how the federal Affordable Care Act will affect families at free events in Waterbury and New Britain.
The discussions are set for 6 p.m. Tuesday at Waterbury City Hall and 6 p.m. Thursday at the New Britain-Berlin YMCA in New Britain.
Access Health CT is the state's health insurance exchange and will be providing information on health insurance savings, enrollment in insurance plans and other topics.
The federal health care law requires states to have health insurance exchanges to make it easier to enroll in health insurance plans. More than 340,000 Connecticut residents are expected to participate in the state's exchange.
The IRS next year will begin enforcing a requirement that most people have health insurance or face fines.
