Abby M. Warren[/caption] Warren Named to CT Women's Hall Board The Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame has elected Robinson & Cole lawyer Abby M. Warren to its board of trustees. Warren counsels private-sector employers in all areas of employment law and defends employers in federal and state court and before administrative agencies. In addition to counseling and litigation, she provides workplace training for clients and conducts workplace investigations. The Connecticut Women's Hall of Fame is an educational outreach organization whose mission is to honor publicly the achievements of Connecticut women, preserve their stories, educate the public and inspire the continued achievements of women and girls. Founded in 1994, the organization offers role models to women of all ages, encouraging them to recognize their potential and live their dreams. The hall is the leading source for Connecticut women’s history, with more than 100 inductees. Judge Emons Picked Up By CT's Cohen and Wolf The Connecticut judiciary's loss is Cohen and Wolf's gain, as the southern Connecticut firm has named retired Judge Jane B. Emons of counsel to the firm. Emons, whose time on the bench was controversially allowed by the Connecticut Legislature to expire this past May, was appointed as a Superior Court Judge by Gov. Jodi Rell in 2010. During her eight years on the bench, she presided over criminal and domestic violence matters, as well as family law matters related to divorce and custody. She served as a presiding family judge in the Stamford, New Haven and Milford judicial districts for almost seven years. Before that, Emons served as an assistant attorney general, representing the state in employment law cases. She also served for 10 years as an assistant state’s attorney in the New Haven GA and JD courts. She is a member of the Connecticut and Washington, D.C., bars, and is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court of Connecticut, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. Emons will provide alternative dispute resolution at Cohen and Wolf, including mediation, arbitration, discovery and special mastering related to family and employment law matters. “We are honored that Judge Emons will be joining the firm,” said David Ball, Cohen and Wolf’s managing partner. “Judge Emons will bring years of experience as a respected trial lawyer and Superior Court judge. With her unique skills, we look forward to growing our mediation, arbitration and dispute resolution practice.” Emons graduated from Kirkland (Hamilton) College in 1971, and received her master's degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1972. She received her juris doctor, cum laude, from Suffolk University School of Law in 1977, where she served as a member and technical editor of the law review.
