Consol Energy: 3Q Earnings Snapshot

CANONSBURG, Pa. (AP) _ Consol Energy Inc. (CEIX) on Thursday reported third-quarter net income of $5.7 million.

On a per-share basis, the Canonsburg, Pennsylvania-based company said it had net income of 20 cents.

The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 53 cents per share.

The coal company posted revenue of $324.2 million in the period, which also missed Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $338.8 million.

Consol Energy shares have risen slightly more than 1 percent since the beginning of the year.
