HOUSTON (AP) _ Contango Oil & Gas Co. (MCF) on Wednesday reported a loss of $81.5 million in its third quarter.
On a per-share basis, the Houston-based company said it had a loss of $3.26. Losses, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were 28 cents per share.
The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 14 cents per share.
The oil and gas company posted revenue of $19.5 million in the period, which met Street forecasts.
The company's shares closed at $4.85. A year ago, they were trading at $4.45.
