ITV aired an hour's worth of Coronation Street tonight (July 19), and it looks like villain Gary Windass could soon be on the receiving end of some justice.

In the opening quarter of the episode, Imran told Kate that Gary was the police's primary suspect in the Underworld roof collapse investigation, leading her to tell Peter later on at the Rovers Return.

Although he staunchly denied it, Gary was flung against the wall by Peter when he turned up at the pub shortly after. He was left quivering and vulnerable, which was a change from his usual hard-man facade.

Further along, Gary deceived Imran by telling porkies about Rick's involvement with the roof collapse. He explained that Rick sabotaged the building to destroy Gary's professional reputation.

Imran then accompanied Gary to the police station where he made a statement to DS Beckett regarding Rick's apparent criminal ways. However, the officer saw right through him.

Beckett told Gary that she knew the truth, that he was in fact the roof saboteur, and that he was only pinning the blame on Rick because he's 'disappeared' (if she only knew the tragic reality).

As the credits appeared on screen, we're left wondering if Gary will be able to talk his way out of this one, or whether his comeuppance is about to slap him in the face.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
