From the moment it was announced that Virgil Abloh would be taking the reins at Louis Vuitton men’s, it was clear that celebrities would embrace his vision. Yet among his legion of famous fans, Rihanna stands above the rest—so it made sense that she provided the first glimpse of his Spring 2019 collection in Paris this morning, as she headed to witness the designer’s historic debut at the house. Wearing several pieces before they hit the runway, Rihanna donned a monochromatic white look, featuring an oversize blouse and baggy trousers worn with pointy toe heels. Layering on the accessories, she carried the newly launched transparent Keepall duffle and logo-free versions of Vuitton classics like the Papillon, Danube, and Petite Boite Chapeau.
On the runway, Abloh kept things minimal with male models and musicians skipping outsize adornments, but Rihanna’s styling added a glamorous element. With a pair of geometric sunglasses, a few gold chains, and a diamond bracelet or three, she brought femininity to the most anticipated menswear collection of the moment. As expected.
