Credit card rates stayed steady from last week, according to Bankrate's latest survey of interest rates. The average annual percentage rate, or APR, for variable-rate credit cards remained unchanged at 15.24 percent for the fifth straight week. The APR for fixed-rate cards stood at 13.02 percent, where it has been since mid-February.

Wells Fargo said Wednesday that its customers with a home rebate credit card have used rewards they have earned to pay down more than $50 million in mortgage balances since the card's debut in 2007. The rebates are applied automatically in $25 increments to the mortgage balance until the home loan is paid off.
