Cristiano Ronaldo isn’t particularly good at free kicks anymore. But still, there’s no more iconic technique and approach to the ball in global soccer. Thousands of kids emulate it on playgrounds and fields every day.

One of those kids, apparently, is Ronaldo’s son, Cristiano Jr.

And the elder Ronaldo seems very pleased that his son has taken after him:

OK, so maybe Cristiano Jr. doesn’t quite strike a ball as hard as his father. Not yet, anyway. He’s only 7 years old.

But he paces backwards away from the ball, with long strides, just like his father. He stands with his legs a little more than shoulder’s width apart, his arms by his side, just like the Real Madrid star. The run-up is similar, too. And the dip on the ball .. OK, maybe that’s just because it’s hit with the strength of a 7-year-old.

But still, as Ronaldo wrote in the video’s caption, “nothing is coincidence.”

Cristiano Jr. is the first of Ronaldo’s four sons. He is the father of twins who were born this past summer. And his girlfriend, Georgina Rodriguez, gave birth to Ronaldo’s fourth child earlier in November.
