Cubic Transportation Systems' technology empowers the transportation industry to enhance the transit experience
SAN DIEGO, May 15, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Cubic Corporation (CUB) today announced its Cubic Transportation Systems (CTS) business division will demonstrate its industry-leading mobility solutions at the American Public Transportation Association's (APTA) Mobility Conference. Taking place May 19–22 in Louisville, Kentucky, APTA's enhanced bus and paratransit conference addresses the priorities and challenges facing bus and paratransit systems and explores the changing environment in which systems operate in today's mobility landscape.
Today's travelers expect a seamless experience with accuracy and ease. Cubic builds the foundation for a Transit Management-as-a-Service (TMaaS) environment enabling rapid evaluation, deployment and support of modern transit capabilities.
"In the age of information, travelers rely on accurate and real-time information more than ever to plan their journeys," said Doug Thomas, general manager of NextBus, Cubic Transportation Systems. "We provide capabilities and benefits that extend far beyond the traditional boundaries of transit management systems to better predict and plan journeys, ultimately creating streamlined and efficient travel experiences."
Cubic will showcase the following solutions at booth #328 from 10:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on May 21 at the Kentucky International Convention Center:
- Real-time Passenger Information (RTPI): RTPI provides convenient access to trip planning, real-time arrival predictions and departure updates with machine learning, service alerts and notifications and number of seats available.
- Driver Control Unit (DCU): an intelligent management and communications device that interfaces with Cubic's NextBus RTPI predictions, passenger counters, NextStop signage, engine diagnostics, two-way operator messaging and operator covert alarms. GPS technology and a proprietary algorithm link data from the city's various transit vehicles and agency management systems and send it to the NextBus service center.
- Content Management System (CMS): a service offering that comprises of cloud-based multi-modal, citywide services on a single platform for displaying timely and relevant information to travelers. Digital signage is the fastest and most cost-effective delivery mode for travelers to have access to what they need to know and when. Cubic merges all content selected by the customer onto a single platform and delivers it using a public cloud-hosted server.
In addition, CTS Director of Strategy Crissy Ditmore, will discuss the various mobility options currently contributing to improved access to transit. She will be presenting alongside Carlos Cruz-Casas, assistant director of Miami Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works on the following topic:
- Mobility Quick-Takes and Table-Top Discussions – Enabling MaaS Innovation in Action: New mobility options that involve innovative fare payment methods, partnerships and on-demand services contribute to improved access to transit.
