Apple's newest smartphone quickly generated complaints after going on sale Fri. Gripes included scratched or scuffed phones out of the box, light leakage and poor battery life, according to Internet tech sites. After grousing over its new maps app for iOS 6 — which replaced Google Maps for iPhones and iPads — Apple is reportedly trying to hire former Google (GOOG) employees who worked on its mapping app. Google, meanwhile, has submitted a maps application to Apple's App Store and is awaiting an OK. Apple fell 1%.
