A mad yet hilarious scramble took place during Wednesday’s season-series finale, which Arizona rallied to win 4-3 in the ninth inning.

In all went down in the fifth inning after Arizona’s Jake Lamb launched a home run that just cleared the fence. Once it touched down, fans of both teams launched into their best Keystone Cops routine.

This fan wanted a Jake Lamb home run ball … and he would not be denied.

Tremendous.

The guy in the bright orange tank top really set the tone by sailing through the picture like the brakes went out on his roller skates. He recovered nicely, but still proved to be no match for this baseball as it bounced away from the guy in the sunglasses.

Then business really picked up when it came to a one-on-one race between a D-Backs fan and a Giants fan.

Ouch!

The only real winner appeared to be the concrete.

In a surprising twist given how the Giants season has played out, the Giants fan did end up securing the baseball. At what price we’re not sure, but at least he didn’t walk away from the most entertaining home run scramble of the season empty-handed.
