The town of Iga, Japan, known as the birthplace of the silent assassin, attracts more than 30,000 tourists each year to its ninja festival. However, with more and more of its young people leaving to seek employment in cities, Iga’s economy is facing a tough road. In response, Mayor Sakae Okamoto has announced a plan to boost the economy by making ninja-based tourism a year-round affair. According to the Foreign Press Center of Japan, ninja performers can make up to $85,000 per year.
