DeAndre Hopkins expects to become 'best friends' with his new QB Kyler Murray
Wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins has been working hard to learn the Arizona Cardinals’ offense since he was traded from the Houston Texans in March. He has been studying the playbook twice a day. He has put certain plays on his phone’s lock screen. He has picked the brain of the legendary Larry Fitzgerald.
His new quarterback, Kyler Murray, has also been helping him. He attended Murray’s gathering of skill players in June and began to get to know him, but hasn’t been getting a lot of time with him. With training camp starting, Hopkins is looking forward to developing a deeper relationship with Murray — a much deeper relationship.

Hopkins and Murray’s on-field chemistry
“My expectation is us becoming best friends,” Hopkins said of Murray, via AZCardinals.com. “I have to be on the same page as my quarterback no matter what for us to be successful as a team.”
Hopkins is talking about chemistry. He believes that the better he and Murray get to know each other, the better they’ll work together on the field.
Murray has already been helping Hopkins in numerous ways, but Hopkins is really looking forward to getting on the field with his QB. To him, that’s the best way for them to develop the relationship they need to be successful. Hopkins is confident that they’ll find a way, even without preseason games.
“I think, obviously, he's matured in this offense, and I'm new to it but he's doing a good job of keeping me up to par with things and also the other guys around me,” Hopkins said, via NFL.com. “But, I think we will have time to develop chemistry once we kind of get out there and throw a little bit more against the defense. I think that it'll help.
“Obviously, we don't have a lot of time to get ready. So, every rep really counts, but I think Kyler's mindset is we're gonna make it work. So, that's my mindset, as well.”
As far as Hopkins’ relationship with head coach Kliff Kingsbury goes, that’s all set.
“You can actually showcase your skillset in an offense like this,” Hopkins said. “The conversation with Kliff and I is winning, and doing what we have to do to win.”
