Del. panel considers financial company grants

SMYRNA, Del. (AP) -- What's in your wallet?

Credit card company Capital One is asking state officials for a grant of up to $7.1 million from Delaware's Strategic Fund to expand its Delaware operations.

The Council on Development Finance will consider the request from Capital One at its meeting Monday. The council also was to consider a request from Chase Bank USA, which is part of JP Morgan Chase Co., for a strategic fund grant of up to $10.1 million to expand its operations.

Capital One, which is part of Capital One Financial Corp., announced last September that it would expand its Delaware workforce by 500 jobs with help from the state. The Markell administration said then that Capital One would receive a $5.6 million job creation incentive and a rebate of up to $1.5 million to cover 3 percent of the capital expenditures on a new Wilmington facility.
