Demi Lovato responds to online haters in her bathing suit Instagram photos

Demi Lovato visited The Ellen DeGeneres Show and the two talked about Lovato’s journey toward accepting her body while recovering from an eating disorder and taking power away from online haters.

DeGeneres remarked that Lovato has seemed more confident recently. Lovato said, “I’ve like really surrendered to the process of just loving myself and I feel like it shows through my pictures. And I post more bathing suit pictures online and I want to show my fans that it’s possible for them to get that place of self-love too.”

Lovato shared the thought behind this Instagram post.

She said, “I was hesitant about posting that because I didn’t love my legs in it. … I’ve taken away the power from the negative comments and the haters. And if I do see them I just feel sorry for them because who leaves a negative comment on somebody’s profile on the internet. You have to be a kind of sad person to do that.”

DeGeneres said, “I think it’s really important that young girls and boys don’t get the message that you’re supposed to all look the same and be rail thin. I think you look fantastic and healthy.”
