Designers behind Meghan Markle's engagement ring refuse to create replicas

When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their engagement, all we could think about was her ring. Set on a gold band, the cushion diamond from Botswana is sandwiched between two outside diamonds from Princess Diana's personal collection. In including his mother's jewels, it was a way for Prince Harry to bring Di along for the ride.

Harry designed the ring alongside royal jeweler Cleave and Company, who recently opened up about the incredibly "secretive" process of making the ring and how the proposal brought international attention to their business.

Explained the director of Cleave and Company Stephen Connelly to Associated Press, all the media attention as a result of the proposal has been "a bit of a shock." It has forced the jewelry company to keep their location mum for fear of being bombarded, according to Cosmopolitan.

Echoed Crown jewelry designer David Thomas, who assisted in designing the ring, explained the ring was "biggest and hardest secret" he's ever had to keep. “Jewelers are like doctors: we never discuss our patients!” Thomas maintained. Though we don't know the price of the ring, we can only imagine its value (Princess Diana and Kate Middleton's ring is now reportedly worth over $500,000...oy vey!).

And if royal fanatics are looking to mimic Meghan's unique ring, they're bound to be sorely disappointed. "We're not going to be making replicas of it. If you want a ring, then we’ll design you a different one,” Connelly asserted. Well, it was worth a shot!
