ROYAL OAK, Mich., March 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Locally sourced hot dog joint Detroit Dog Co., located on 200 W 5th Ave in downtown Royal Oak, is set to make its debut. To celebrate, DDC is holding a soft opening Wednesday, March 15th from 5-10 pm. Patrons will enjoy 20% off their order that day and a free fries coupon. This event is welcome to the public.
Detroit Dog Co. (DDC) is known for using local ingredients in each handcrafted dog for an authentic Detroit-style taste. Avalon International Breads supplies DDC with artisan baked hot dog buns using 100% organic flour. The beef and pork franks are sourced from native-favorite Dearborn Sausage.
Catrina Vlisides, founder, says sourcing local ingredients is paramount to DDC's mission. "We use ingredients from partners we trust in an effort to support Detroit's comeback and create meaningful relationships."
The restaurant boasts outrageously delicious menu items named after prominent Detroit landmarks such as the Belle Isle Burger, Woodward Waffle, Just Past 8 Mile, and Mexicantown. Side items include Detroit-made Faygo Beverages and Bettermade Potato Chips.
The new location succeeds after closing shop in Saline late 2015. During this time, Vlisides took the opportunity to rebrand and open up a food truck along the way. Illustrations in both food truck and storefront are created by One Soul Graphics and made to mirror the graffiti street-style found in the suburbs of the city.
Other ventures include food truck parking in various downtown Detroit areas, as well as a fixed location at St. Andrew's Hall. Future projects include a Somerset storefront and partnership with Detroit's up-and-coming cafeteria-style eatery Detroit Shipping Co.
