Detroit Harbortown gets state aid for $20M project

Michigan gives $1 million for 134-unit, $20 million expansion of Detroit's Harbortown complex

LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- A Michigan development agency says it has awarded $1 million for a $20 million expansion of Detroit's Harbortown residential complex that will add 134 rental apartments.

The Michigan Economic Development Corp. announced the grant Wednesday. The agency says it also is giving $250,000 to aerospace components supplier Triumph Group Inc. for a $15 million factory in Macomb County's Macomb Township.

The agency says the Harbortown project is a five-story, 165,000 square foot building within the existing Harbortown complex on the Detroit River. It says the apartments will be a mix of one- two- and three-bedroom units.
