Developed International Market & U.S. Technology: Two ETFs Trading with Outsized Volume

Zacks Equity Research

In the last trading session, U.S. stocks were in green, following impressive earnings mainly on the tech front. Among the top ETFs, investors saw SPY gain about 1.1%, DIA add about 0.9% and QQQ move higher by about 2.8% on the day.

Two more specialized ETFs are worth noting in particular though as both saw trading volume that was far outside of normal. In fact, both these funds experienced volume levels that were more than double their average for the most recent trading session. This could make these ETFs ones to watch out for in the days ahead to see if this trend of extra interest continues:

EFV: Volume 3.03 times average

This developed international market ETF was under the microscope yesterday as nearly 812,000 shares moved hands. This compares to an average trading volume of 268,200 shares and came as EFV returned 0.8% in the session.

The movement can largely be attributed to easy money policies in the underlying geographies of the fund. Currently, the fund has a Zacks ETF Rank #3 (Hold). In the last one-month period, SHY was up about 9.1%.

QTEC: Volume 3.02 times average

This U.S. technology equities ETF was in focus yesterday as roughly 142,600 shares moved hands compared to an average of roughly 47,140 shares. We also saw some stock price movement as shares of QTEC added over 1.6% yesterday.

Solid tech earnings and a still-supportive Fed gave this tech ETF a nice bounce. The fund has a Zacks ETF Rank #2 (Buy). In the last one-month period, QTEC was up about 11.7%.
