Investment management firm Diamond Hill Capital (Trades, Portfolio) bought shares of the following stocks in both the second and third quarters.


Alaska Air Group Inc. (ALK)

In the second quarter, the firm boosted the stake by 248.8% and added another 49.75% in the third quarter.

With a market cap of $8.33 billion, the company operates Alaska, Virgin America and Horizon Air airlines. Its revenue of $8.18 billion has grown 13.10% over the last five years.

PRIMECAP Management (Trades, Portfolio) is the largest shareholder of the company among the gurus with 4.89% of outstanding shares, followed by the T Rowe Price Equity Income Fund (Trades, Portfolio) with 1.48% and Steven Cohen (Trades, Portfolio) with 0.4%.

Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN)

Diamond Hill increased the holding by 7.91% in the second quarter and added 10.64% in the third quarter.

Diamond Hill expanded its holding by 25.37% in the second quarter and boosted it 70.44% in the third quarter.

The investment firm expanded its holding 65.83% in the second quarter and added 55.53% in the third quarter.
