In celebration of the Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams exhibition at the V&A, The Berkeley has created the perfect tribute in the form of a themed afternoon tea.

Prêt-à-Portea at The Berkeley Hotel, whose menu has long been inspired by the world of fashion, has taken Dior's iconic designs and transformed them into delicious biscuits, cakes and teas. From the Junon dress worn by Theo Graham at Le Pré Catalan in Paris 1949 to the bar jacket that defined Dior's New Look, the brand's most famed looks have been reinterpreted in cake form - and they truly do look so good, you might - momentarily at least - dally over whether to eat them at all.

If you love red velvet cake then you're in luck, as there's a treat inspired by the Lady Dior handbag from 1995, when France’s First Lady, Bernadette Chirac gifted it to Diana, Princess of Wales. If you have a real sweet-tooth, you'll love the white velvet chocolate mousse version of the classic Miss Dior 1949 dress.

There's also modern Dior references, with an edible homage in celebration of the J’Adior shoe by Maria Grazia Chiuri, which takes the form of a vanilla biscuit with royal icing finished with its inscription bow in edible sugar ribbon.

Mourad Khiat, The Berkeley’s Pastry Chef, says: “It was important for me to respectfully emulate Monsieur Dior’s timeless and iconic fairy-tale gowns using ingredients that best celebrate these opulent and beautiful creations."

"Seeing the exquisite garments displayed in real life at the V&A really makes me appreciate the detail and precision that goes into these ingenious designs.”
