The Fort Mill, South Carolina-based company said it had profit of $1.27 per share. Earnings, adjusted for asset impairment costs and non-recurring costs, came to $1.44 per share.
The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.34 per share.
The paper and packaging maker posted revenue of $1.38 billion in the period.
Domtar shares have increased 39% since the beginning of the year. The stock has increased 11% in the last 12 months.
