FORT MILL, S.C. (AP) _ Domtar Corp. (UFS) on Tuesday reported fourth-quarter net income of $87 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.
The Fort Mill, South Carolina-based company said it had profit of $1.38 per share. Earnings, adjusted for restructuring costs and pretax expenses, came to $1.63 per share.
The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.69 per share.
The paper and packaging maker posted revenue of $1.39 billion in the period.
For the year, the company reported net income of $283 million, or $4.48 per share, swinging to a profit in the period. Revenue was reported as $5.46 billion.
Domtar shares have climbed 32 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has decreased slightly more than 5 percent in the last 12 months.
