Donald Trump and ties have something of a complicated relationship. In January of 2017 the President was called out for scotch taping his neckpiece together after a gust of wind exposed his cunning fashion hack.

Given his aversion to criticism of any kind, you might therefore expect Trump to see the tie as a foe rather than a friend. Not so, according to former Governor of New Jersey and Trump insider Chris Christie's forthcoming memoir, Let Me Finish.

According to Christie, Trump wears an extra long tie as a 'slenderising' trick, and we can all agree it's done a magnificent job at tricking us into thinking Trump is in the shape of his life.

The Guardian report that, "Christie wrote of how Trump encouraged him to wear a long tie to make him look thinner during the 2016 presidential campaign."

A look through the archives of Trump wearing a tie make it clear that his tie is trailing far below where it ought to be. As we've warned in the past, "If your tie isn't falling just above your waistline and firmly tied (without being throttled), then it's time for some serious re-evaluations on... everything."

You should not be able to drape it around your neck like a scarf.
