Weekly crude-oil inventories will be reported at 10:30 a.m. ET, which could affect trading among energy companies.

Aerospace giant Boeing and auto maker Ford are the biggest earnings report today, scheduled for release before the opening bell. Other noteworthy results will come from EMC, Eli Lilly, GlaxoSmithKline, Sprint Nextel, and Whirlpool. Qualcomm, Terex, Cliffs Resources, Western Digital, and Zynga follow after the closing bell.
