Dutch lender Rabobank finds new CEO at BNP Paribas

·1 min read

AMSTERDAM, Sept 5 (Reuters) - Dutch lender Rabobank on Monday said it would appoint Belgian Stefaan Decraene as its new chairman.

Decraene is currently retail and commercial banking chief at BNP Paribas and will succeed Wiebe Draijer, who last year said he would step down on Oct. 1 2022.

Rabobank is known globally as an agricultural lender and is also the largest mortgage lender in the Netherlands.

Late last year the cooperative bank said it could face a fine from the Dutch central bank if it did not improve efforts to prevent money laundering through its accounts by the end of 2023.

Draijer has held the top job at Rabobank since 2014, and oversaw a major overhaul at the Netherlands' third largest bank, reducing branch offices and centralising power at the company's head offices in Utrecht. (Reporting by Bart Meijer; Editing by Jon Boyle)
