If you know me, you know I adopt a "more is more" attitude when it comes to decor. Bold paint colors? Yes, please. Ornamental trim? Bring it on. My aesthetic is pretty much the opposite of minimalism. So, suffice it to say, I love a good wallpaper—or a few. If I could, I'd swathe my entire home in various prints, but, alas, there are a few hurdles: One, wallpaper is pricey, and two, even with my maximalist style, there needs to be some kind of visual continuity in a home. That's why I'm so obsessed with my latest little project in my apartment, which incorporates wallpaper in a subtle and unexpected way—because it's inside my doors.

The project started when I was looking to incorporate this fun terrazzo wallpaper from Chasing Paper into my bathroom. I didn't have quite enough to cover the whole wall, and an accent seemed odd with all the tile going on. But, when I opened my cabinet to brush my teeth one morning, I discovered there WAS an empty space I'd overlooked. So here we are. This project took LITERALLY minutes—here's how I did it.

1.Measure

I know, it's a hassle, but do it anyway. Measure where you want to apply the paper; in my case, the door featured an inset panel, so I wallpapered within that, leaving a white border.

2.Cut

After marking my paper with the proper measurements, I cut a rectangle to size.

3.Apply

This paper is vinyl peel-and-stick, so all I had to do was peel off the back and stick it on the door. If I were using a traditional wallpaper, I would paste the inside of the door first. One thing to note with peel-and-stick: It's especially important to align the top of your paper correctly, so you avoid bubbles, since you can't smoosh it into place like pasted wallpaper.

4.Enjoy!

Et voilà! A fun, patterned surprise when I open my cabinet. Think I'm going to get to work on my kitchen cabinets next. And then—who knows?—maybe I'll even tackle the inside of my closet doors. The world is your wallpaper canvas!
