EastEnders aired tonight (August 23) and Mel Owen might soon be fleeing to Portugal.

But let's just rewind a second. Friday's episode began with Mel demanding an explanation from police officers about how her son Hunter managed to escape prison and insisted they find him in the safest possible manner.

After they told her to calm down, Mel made a call to get some legal advice on the situation, but little did she know that her son was in fact back in Albert Square and desperately trying to contact her.

Back at the club, Mel was shocked to discover her injured son waiting in the office, but before they could talk properly, Ben arrived seeking out Mel – with Hunter left hiding.

Luckily, she got rid of Ben fairly quickly so that she could tend to Hunter's injuries in an abandoned basement.

With Hunter reflecting on his gruelling time in prison, Mel later agreed that he can't return and suggested they both flee to Portugal.

Meanwhile, Ben also began to pressurise Mel during the episode, as he's desperate to know where Lisa is.

Next week is going to be a juicy one.

EastEnders airs on BBC One.
