On a per-share basis, the State College, Pennsylvania-based company said it had net income of 1 cent. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 4 cents per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 3 cents per share.
The independent oil and gas company posted revenue of $130.1 million in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $113.1 million.
In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, the company's shares hit $1.11. A year ago, they were trading at $2.22.
