The State College, Pennsylvania-based company said it had a loss of 23 cents per share. Losses, adjusted for non-recurring costs and asset impairment costs, were 2 cents per share.
The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 5 cents per share.
The independent oil and gas company posted revenue of $83.9 million in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $76.4 million.
For the year, the company reported that its loss narrowed to $203.8 million, or 84 cents per share. Revenue was reported as $235 million.
In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, the company's shares hit $2.16. A year ago, they were trading at 95 cents.
