Economic review to be presented to RI governor

Consultants hired to review RI's economy, business climate to present reports to Gov. Chafee

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- A consulting firm hired to analyze and recommend ways to improve Rhode Island's lackluster economy is set to present its findings.

Gov. Lincoln Chafee is set to receive a report from a Pittsburgh-based consultancy at the Statehouse on Wednesday afternoon.

The governor selected Fourth Economy last month to analyze Rhode Island's business climate, see how the state compares to its Northeast neighbors and recommend ways to improve its economic standing.

Fourth Economy CEO Rich Overmoyer is expected to outline his findings.

Among those expected to attend are Kevin Flynn, director of the state division of planning; William Parsons, a managing director at the Economic Development Corp.; and members of the Sustainable Rhode Island Consortium, which includes various state agencies and nonprofits.
