Edgewater Wireless and Galtronics Build World's First Multi-channel WiFi Antennas

aera™ multi-channel access points powered by WiFi3™ now available with innovative antenna array

OTTAWA, Ontario, November 28, 2017 /PRNewswire/ --

Edgewater Wireless Systems Inc. (YFI.V) is pleased to announce that the company, in close collaboration with Galtronics - a subsidiary of Baylin Technologies (TSX: BYL), have recently completed production of the world's first antenna solution designed specifically for multi-channel WiFi products. The innovative antennas are designed to work with OEM products powered by WiFi3 Multi-channel radio cards and chipsets.

The unique antenna design has been integrated into Edgewater Wireless aera series of access points and are available in the aera3, aera4 and aera6 product variants. The antennas have also been integrated into a reference design for an innovative product being developed in partnership with an OEM and licensing customer.

"This is the world's first antenna developed specifically for multi-channel WiFi, and is a tremendous accomplishment by two Canadian companies to design and produce antennas to make WiFi work better in network applications worldwide," said Eric Smith, VP of Product with Edgewater Wireless. "The team at Galtronics brought their immeasurable expertise in wireless antenna design and development to make this ground-breaking innovation possible."

The internalized multi-channel antenna can easily be integrated into any series of WiFi3 powered OEM wireless products. The antennas maximize the zone control and performance of each channel operating on a multi-channel WiFi radio - optimizing performance of such innovative features as PowerZoning™ and the company's patented interference mitigation technology.

"Edgewater Wireless is doing something truly innovative in the world of WiFi with multi-channel WiFi3 and we're excited to continue that path of innovation and play a role in the co-development of the world's first multi-channel WiFi antenna!" said Cliff Connors EVP, Networking Business Unit with Galtronics. "Our customers know us for advancing innovation and our scale across the entire wireless industry and we've achieved that again with Edgewater Wireless."

Backed by over 20 patents, Edgewater's WiFi3™ is the best solution for high-density WiFi applications. Edgewater's patented technology mitigates adjacent and co-channel interference to enable multiple, concurrent channels to transmit and receive from a single WiFi standards-compliant radio. Delivering the highest channel density in the industry means fewer access points to deliver the highest Quality of Service (QoS) for users.
