CAIRO (AP) -- A Cairo court has ordered a retrial of Egypt's former oil minister and says he should be released pending the proceedings.
Sameh Fahmy is the latest member of ousted leader Hosni Mubarak's former Cabinet to win a retrial after his 15-year sentence on corruption charges was annulled.
Fahmy was accused of with harming the country's interests by exporting natural gas to Israel for prices lower than those prevailing on world markets at the time.
The Criminal Court ordered the retrial on Monday and on Thursday ordered his release based on Fahmy's complaint that he had been held beyond the legal limit before his initial trial started. No date has been set.
