EM High Yield Bond & US Large-Cap Dividend: 2 ETFs Trading with Outsized Volume

In the last trading session, U.S. stocks were in the green. The recent spurt in oil prices and the possible Santa Rally cheered the stocks. Among the top ETFs, investors saw SPY gain over 1.2%, DIA rise over 1% and QQQ move higher by over 0.7% on the day.

Two more specialized ETFs are worth noting in particular though as both saw trading volume that was far outside of normal. In fact, in the most recent trading session, both these funds experienced volume levels that were more than double their average. This could make these ETFs ones to watch out for in the days ahead to see if this trend of extra interest continues:

EMHY: Volume 5.52 times average

This emerging market high-yield bond ETF was in focus on Wednesday as roughly 289,548 shares moved hands compared to an average of roughly 52,410 shares. We also saw some stock price movement as EMHY added over 0.3%.

The movement can largely be credited to demand for higher yield after the Fed lift-off. In the last one-month period, EMHY was down 3.7%.

DLN: Volume 4.58 times average

This large-cap U.S. dividend ETF was under the microscope yesterday as nearly 367,052 shares moved hands. This compares to an average trading volume of 80,140 shares.  We also saw some great stock price movement as DLN gained over 1.6%

This fund is another beneficiary of investors’ appetite for higher income. Moreover, renewed confidence over U.S. stocks also boosted the fund. In the last one-month period, DLN was down about 0.8%. The fund has a Zacks ETF Rank #3 (Hold).
