SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. (AP) _ The Ensign Group Inc. (ENSG) on Wednesday reported fourth-quarter net income of $27.4 million.
The San Juan Capistrano, California-based company said it had profit of 49 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 60 cents per share.
The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 55 cents per share.
The provider of nursing and rehabilitative care services posted revenue of $560.2 million in the period, which also beat Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $543.7 million.
For the year, the company reported profit of $110.5 million, or $1.97 per share. Revenue was nearly unchanged at $2.04 billion.
Ensign Group expects full-year earnings to be $1.95 per share, with revenue in the range of $2.42 billion to $2.45 billion.
Ensign Group shares have risen almost 6% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $47.90, a climb of roughly 9% in the last 12 months.
