HOUSTON (AP) _ EP Energy Corp. (EPE) on Wednesday reported a loss of $140 million in its fourth quarter.
The Houston-based company said it had a loss of 57 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs and pretax expenses, came to 12 cents per share.
The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 20 cents per share.
For the year, the company reported that its loss narrowed to $27 million, or 11 cents per share.
In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, the company's shares hit $4.80. A year ago, they were trading at $1.96.
